Beginning Your Internship Search

WAIT! BEFORE YOU START APPLYING Heading link

Let’s get organized.

The Internship Application Log will help you track your opportunities, deadlines, contact information and more!

Before clicking the “apply” button, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you connect with the organization to learn about the role. This can be a 10-20 minute phone/Zoom call to ensure you are excited about the position.

HINT: IT WILL BE 1000000x EASIER TO WRITE A COVER LETTER AFTER TALKING WITH THE ORGANIZATION! Attending a CAREER FAIR is a GREAT way to meet with SEVERAL EMPLOYERS AT ONCE!

Certainly, you won’t be able to do this with all of your applications, but try setting a goal for yourself to reach out to (3) internship organizations a week. Not sure what to say? Use the MAKING CONNECTIONS GUIDE where we include template e-mail and LinkedIn messages, even a template for reaching out to faculty for research opportunities!
