Join us for this panel to hear from UIC Criminology, Law and Justice (CLJ) students discuss how they found their fit with the CLJ major based on their interests as well as their involvement with internships, undergraduate research, and more. Get tips on how to explore the major and ways to get involved.

About our panelists:

Afua Owusu-Ansah: "I am currently in my last semester of my undergrad studying Criminology, Law & Justice on the Pre-Law track. I transferred from Joliet Junior college until 2020 then transferred to UIC. During my time at UIC I became a member of Castillo Law Scholar Mentorship Program, Benesch LSAT Scholar, recipient of the deans list for 5 consecutive semesters and a mentee of Attorney Monica Llorente. I am an advocate for the homeless, juveniles and minority groups"

President of Criminology, Law & Justice Student Society, Project Intern at Chicago Justice Project and a Fellow at the Urban Public Policy Fellowship program

Crystal Malaquias: "I am a first-generation college student. I am a junior and recently was accepted into the Urban Public Policy Fellowship Program, where I have matched with IL PIRG, a non-profit organization, to increase the number of youths registered to vote"

Double major in Psychology and Criminology, Law & Justice, Research Fellow at Urban Public Policy Fellowship Program.

Sarah Alzein: "My  major is Criminal Law and Justice and my minor is Political Science. I am currently a research assistant for the department of CLJ and this is my third year doing it. I love learning new things and how to become better at them"
